Privacy notice

Sensible's Kitchen is a personal food blog. I collect as little as I can, I don't show ads, and I never sell or share your information for marketing.

Who I am

Sensible's Kitchen is run by Mike, who is responsible for the information described here. You can reach me at [email protected] about anything on this page.

What I collect, and why

Analytics (only if you accept)

I use Google Analytics to see which pages people read, roughly where visitors are (country or city), what kind of device and browser they use, and how they found the site. It helps me decide what to cook and write next.

The legal basis is your consent. Your choice itself is saved in your own browser (local storage), not sent to me.

Comments

If you leave a comment, I store your name, email address and comment. Your name and comment are published under the post (once approved); your email is never shown and is only used to recognise you if you comment again, so your later comments can appear without waiting for approval. To fight spam, I also keep your IP address and browser details for 30 days, after which they're deleted automatically. You can ask me to edit or remove your comments at any time. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a comments section, and in keeping it free of spam.

The comment form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you're a person rather than a bot. It runs when you reach the form and doesn't use cookies for tracking or advertising.

The contact form

If you send me a message, I receive your name, email address and message by email so I can reply. I keep it only as long as the conversation needs, and I'll delete it if you ask. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in replying to you.

Security and server logs

Like every website, each visit sends technical information: your IP address, the page requested, your browser, and the time. My server keeps these logs for 14 days to keep the site secure and fix problems, then deletes them. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.

What I don't do

Who helps run the site

These companies process information on my behalf, under their own data protection terms:

Some of these providers may process information outside the UK, including in the US. Where they do, they rely on the legal safeguards UK data protection law requires.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask me for a copy of the information I hold about you, ask me to correct or delete it, object to how I use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email me and I'll respond within a month.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If I change how the site uses your information, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
